
Gloria Verdieu

Gloria James is a passionate community activist, writer, author, and poet who has dedicated her life to using her voice for change. She is a proud lifetime member of Friends of the Malcolm X Library, where she has spent years supporting literacy, cultural education, and community empowerment. Gloria is also an active member of African American Writers & Artists San Diego, where she continues to hone her craft and encourage other Black creatives to share their stories.
In addition to her creative work, Gloria is deeply committed to social justice. She serves as an organizer with the San Diego Coalition to Free Mumia and All Political Prisoners, tirelessly advocating for human rights and fighting against injustice. Her activism and writing often go hand in hand, as she contributes regularly to Struggle La Lucha, an online newspaper dedicated to grassroots organizing and progressive movements. Through her poetry, her articles, and her community work, Gloria James remains a powerful voice for liberation, equity, and the celebration of Black culture.
