Zawadi (aka Lanetta Wilkes)

For over 60 years Zawadi has been gifted with the ability of creating art that can evoke deep emotions, profoundthoughts and conversation’s when people view her artwork. Most of the inspiration behind her artwork comesfrom experiences in her everyday life in her community, nature and images that come to mind.

Zawadi is a visually impaired surrealistic and abstract artist who uses mixed medias. She has been a member of the AAW&A since the early 1990s. Most of her recent work is done on small canvas and small wood art panels due to her vision impairment. She works with sand, eggshells, bright colors paired with black and white line drawings to make her art standout also by adding texture which also helps those who are visually impaired experience her artwork.
